Rangatahi AOD Counsellor

Full Time – 40hrs. Mon – Fri 8.30am – 5pm

If you are an experienced AOD Counsellor working with Rangatahi/Youth korero mai. We are seeking an AOD Counsellor to join our AOD team. Based in Palmerston North City, a typical day will include clinical assessments, psychoeducation, counselling and support for Rangatahi aged 10-28, both individually, and in small groups.

Kōrero mō te tūranga mahi – About the role

  • Having a high level of counselling and assessment skills, confidence in case management and the ability to deliver evidence based and best practice is key.  Also, Whaioro Trust has established community relationships so maintaining and growing these through safe and effective communication is essential.

He kōrero mōu – About you

  • We welcome you to bring an accountable, professional and flexible approach to your mahi. Being able to work both independently and as part of a team is key. Holding a Level 5 (or above) qualification in AOD with experience. Professional registration with DAPAANZ is advantageous. As is, knowledge of Kaupapa Māori practice, which we also provide ongoing training and support.
  • You will have the opportunity to be out and about in our Palmerston North community so having a full NZ driver license is essential. As is holding a current First Aid certificate (or we can support you to complete this within 3-months of starting work).

It is mandatory for you to have the following:

  • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand/Aotearoa (citizen, work Visa or NZ Residency)
  • Full NZ Drivers License.
  • Approved police vetting carried out by Whaioro Trust.
  • To hold or be prepared to work towards a current practicing certificate for DAPAANZ.
